Julian Alistair Rhind-Tutt is an English film, tv and radio actor, although he is probably best known for his role as Dr. "Mac" Macartney in the comedy T.V series Green Wing.
Julian attended the John Lyon School in Harrow, Middlesex, where he acted in school productions, and played the lead in a school production of Hamlet, which was performed at the Edinburgh Festival fringe in the mid 1980s.
After reading English at the University of Warwick, he attended drama school. He got his first major acting break playing the Duke of York in The Madness of King George (1994). This was followed by smaller television and film roles in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), Heat of the Sun (1998) and not forgetting the Time Out journalist in Notting Hill (1999) as well as others. He then got himself a major role in The Trench (1999) a First World War drama by William Boyd, alongside Paul Nicholls and Daniel Craig. In 2001, we saw him cast as Mr Pimms in the big screen adaptation of Tomb Raider, then as Frank’s friend Rod in Miranda (2002).
Other then his "starring" role in Green Wing, he has also had a major part in the cult American show Keen Eddie as Inspector Monty Pippin, and also starring alongside Simon Pegg in the British comedy Hippies.
He's made guest appearances in Let Them Eat Cake as the Advisor, Absolutely Fabulous as actor Tyler, and Black Books as travel writer Jason Hamilton. More recently on television, he played philandering art teacher Nigel Plumb in The Rotters' Club, on BBC 2, and also as Antoine Lavoisier in E=MC2 on channel 4.
Julian's voice can be heard in Sunday Pants, a cartoon series programme for Cartoon Network. He's also acted on radio, including the comedy The Other Man (2006) on BBC Radio 4. Julian has also done voiceovers for Sky Box office with his Green Wing co-star Stephen Mangan (Guy), for the English newspaper The Daily Telegraph and for Mastercard.
Rhind-Tutt is in two upcoming productions, Venus and Rabbit Fever, a mockumentary about women addicted to their vibrators.
